Public Records Raise Questions About a Payments to Porsha Estimé

Is North Miami Government becoming a Family Business? When elected officials have the power to spend public money, who benefits and why is it always someone related to Councilmembers?

Are North Miami residents paying for a government that serves the public- or government that hooks up its friends & family?  A new set of public records obtained by NoMiBlogs from a very valuable source, raises that question yet again.

Newly obtained public records show that Porsha Estime, the sister of Councilwoman Mary Estime-Irvin, was hired over and over again to provide musical entertainment at events the Councilwoman was either hosting directly or part of.  In fact, Ms. Porsha Estime, the songstress de jour de city of North Miami has been a regularly featured act throughout Mary Estime-Irvin’s tenor as District 3 Councilwoman.

The records show the Mary Estime-Irvin’s sister has been paid $12,425.00 (So Far!) of your tax payer dollars to sing. And sing, she did. All the way to the bank!

Porsha Estime sang at the Women’s Empowerment Network Luncheon on March 26, 2026.

She sang at the Clergy Appreciation Breakfast on October 30, 2025 because nothing says Clergy Appreciation like paying your family member on the public dime:

Porsha Estime sang at the Annual Soup Jaumou giveaway on January 1, 2026

Porsha Estime sang at the Haitian Heritage Month Haitian Cinema Past, Present & Future Event

And so many, many more times, Porsha Estime sang.  And she charged the tax payers of North Miami to hear her sing.

We at NoMiBlogs.com don’t have an opinion on Porsha Estime’s singing abilities.  We wish her success in her singing career.

We do, however, oppose public corruption which is why we keep returning to North Miami’s well earned reputation for keeping the money in the Friends & Family Network.  Its more than political rhetoric.  It begs the same questions, each time:

  1. Who selected the performer?
  2. Who authorized the expenditure?
  3. Who approved payment?
  4. Where other performers considered??
  5. Was Mary Estime-Irvin involved in recommending, electing or hiring her sister?
  6. Would the same opportunity have been available to another North Miami performer who did not have a family connection to an elected official?

THIS IS BIGGER THAN $12,425 IN PAYMENTS

The problem with Friends & Family government isn’t necessarily one (read: many) check.

The problem is with a government culture in which the people closest to those in power repeatedly find themselves receiving opportunities, contracts, appointments, jobs, political support or public dollars.

One transaction may be a coincidence.  A pattern is something else.

The phrase Friends & Family should concern every taxpayer because government is supposed to operate on behalf of the entire community- not a political inner circle.

Residents shouldn’t have to know a councilmember to get an opportunity.  They shouldn’t have to be someone’s relative.  They shouldn’t have to be part of someone’s political network.

And they certainly shouldn’t have to wonder whether their tax dollars are being used to reward the people who are.

We at NoMiBlogs will keep exposing the details!

Oh and if you haven’t had a chance to see Mary Estime Irvin’s sister, Linda “Porsha Estime” live and in concert yet (even if you have paid many times for her services), you may want to catch her at Mary Estime-Irvin’s Vegan Creole day coming up!  She certainly hired her sister last year, and chances are, Porsha is on the ticket/payroll again!
